Qualification awarded (in original language)
Professional Master in Agri-Food Technologies. Master Degree.

Level of qualification
2º Study Cycle. EQF Level 7. Level 7 of ISCED 2011.

Admission requirements
In order to apply for the Professional Master’s in Agri-food Technologies, the candidates must be:
a) holders of a bachelor’s degree or legal equivalent;
b) holders of a foreign higher academic degree of a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna
Process, by a State adhering to this process;
c) holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the bachelor's degree by the
Technical-Scientific Council of the Escola Superior Agrária;
d) holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies, which must be
recognized by the ESA Technical-Scientific Council.
As this is a highly professional study cycle, candidates must present:
e) a minimum professional experience of 5 years, dully proven.

Recognition of prior learning
Following the implementation of the Bologna Process and consequent legislation regarding the mobility of students between courses and higher education establishments, the training carried out by the student within the scope of other higher education cycles, in national higher education establishments, must be subject to credit. or foreigners (accreditation of certified training), as well as having their professional experience and post-secondary training recognized. In this sense, the IPB encourages the accreditation of the previous learning of the student who enters the institution's training.
With a view to the full and rapid integration of the student into their new training plan, the accreditation processes for certified training and professional experience must be submitted upon entry into the IPB, when applying for access or enrolment.

Qualification requirements and regulations
2 curricular semesters (1 year). 20 weeks of study, per semester, full-time (40 per year). 40 hours per week. 810 hours per semester (1620 per year). 60 ECTS credits (30 per semester), corresponding 1 credit to 27 hours. Includes a project work developed entirely in the workplace or an internship with a final report, corresponding to 30 credits.
Holders of the qualification are eligible for admission to the Order of Engineers. The professional title of Engineer is granted by this institution, in accordance with its internal standards.

Profile of the programme
The study program profile comprises the development of technical-scientific knowledge and knowledge of a professional nature specialized in the study areas of Agri-food Technologies. Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

Key learning outcomes
The degree of "mestre" (master) in Applied Management is awarded to those students that demonstrate, in this field, the ability to:
1) develop practical cross-cutting solutions aimed at the root of Agri-Food Technologies problems/challenges;
2) use recent practical concepts;
3) discuss and evaluate advantages and disadvantages associated with each practical solution;
4) apply management tools to solve problems/challenges inherent in the daily life of companies/organisations;
5) find practical solutions to problems/challenges in a real context;
6) use knowledge that cuts across the various sub-areas of Agri-Food Technologies;
7) communicate results/conclusions to decision-makers in structured and written practical reports, on the one hand, and have the dexterity to present them quickly and orally, on the other.

As this is a course awarding a master's degree, with 60 ECTS, aimed at promoting lifelong learning, a minimum prior professional experience of five years, duly proven, is a requirement for admission.

To complete the qualification, the student is required to pass all compulsory course units of the study plan.

Occupational profiles of graduates
The Master's in Agri-food Technologies aims to provide students with technical skills relevant to the job market and innovation skills. It is strongly aimed at students, who, as professionals from employers in the region, will position companies and organizations with better skills regarding the evolution of knowledge for the future, not only in specific areas related to agro-industrial activity and forestry, but also in transversal areas to different sectors of society. In this way, the aim is to motivate co-creation (training and applied research) between the Escola Superior Agrária of the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança and companies/organizations.

Access to further studies
The “master’s” degree allows the continuation of 3rd cycle studies, in accordance with the scheme of the Portuguese Higher Education System, provided by NARIC (http://www.dges.mctes.pt/DGES/pt/Reconhecimento /NARICENIC / ) and presented in section 8 of the Diploma Supplement.
